The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Electronics, Computing & Physics group. This is a full time, permanent position based in our Munich office. Hybrid working options, including working from home, are available.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

- Developing the relationship with our current clients and bringing in new business
- Advising clients on securing appropriate IP protection
- Drafting specifications for complex technical inventions, particularly in the electronics area
- Researching prior art and working directly with clients to develop creative and persuasive arguments against patent office objections
- Thoroughly analysing and editing existing patent specifications to overcome objections to patent applications and attending hearings at the European Patent Office, the German Patent and trademark office and the German Patent Court
- Researching and advising on the status, scope and validity of third-party intellectual property rights
- Building a network of contacts, with a view to converting contacts to clients

About You

To join us as a Patent Attorney, you’ll need:

- German and/or European Patent Attorney qualification
- A strong academic or industry record in an electronics-related discipline and the ability to communicate effectively about technical concepts with the research and development teams of our clients.
- To be skilled in analysing and identifying the novel features and commercial potential of an invention with plenty of experience in drafting claims and responses to office actions for prosecution
- Fluent German and English with first-rate communication skills and the ability to express ideas clearly and accurately
- A track record of interacting effectively with staff and clients at all levels and an enthusiastic team-player with a proactive approach

Die Rolle

Es hat sich eine spannende Gelegenheit ergeben, unserer Gruppe „Elektronik, Informatik und Physik“ beizutreten. Es handelt sich um eine unbefristete Vollzeitstelle in unserem Münchner Büro. Es stehen hybride Arbeitsmöglichkeiten, einschließlich der Arbeit von zu Hause aus, zur Verfügung.

Zu Ihren Aufgaben in dieser Rolle gehören:

- Ausbau der Beziehungen zu unseren aktuellen Kunden und Akquise neuer Geschäfte
- Beratung von Kunden zur Gewährleistung eines angemessenen IP-Schutzes
- Erstellung von Spezifikationen für komplexe technische Erfindungen, insbesondere im Elektronikbereich
- Recherche zum Stand der Technik und direkte Zusammenarbeit mit Kunden, um kreative und überzeugende Argumente gegen Einwände des Patentamts zu entwickeln
- Gründliche Analyse und Überarbeitung bestehender Patentschriften zur Beseitigung von Einwänden gegen Patentanmeldungen sowie Teilnahme an mündlichen Verhandlungen vor dem Europäischen Patentamt, dem Deutschen Patent- und Markenamt und dem Deutschen Patentgericht
- Recherche und Beratung zu Stand, Umfang und Gültigkeit von Schutzrechten Dritter
- Aufbau eines Kontaktnetzwerks mit dem Ziel, Kontakte in Kunden umzuwandeln
- Unterstützung unserer Kollegen in München bei der Durchsetzung und Verteidigung von Schutzrechten an den verschiedenen Ämtern und Gerichten in Deutschland, der Europäischen Gemeinschaft und dem UPC.

Ihre Voraussetzungen

Um bei uns als Patentanwalt einzusteigen, benötigen Sie:

- Qualifikation als deutscher und/oder europäischer Patentanwalt
- Eine starke akademische oder branchenspezifische Erfahrung in einer elektronikbezogenen Disziplin und die Fähigkeit, mit den Forschungs- und Entwicklungsteams unserer Kunden effektiv über technische Konzepte zu kommunizieren
- Kenntnisse in der Analyse und Identifizierung der neuartigen Merkmale und des kommerziellen Potenzials einer Erfindung sowie umfangreiche Erfahrung in der Ausarbeitung von Ansprüchen und Antworten auf gerichtliche Klagen

About You

To join us as a Personal Assistant - IP Administrator, you’ll need:

- PA or patent administration experience is preferred.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts.
- Attention to detail and pride in work product.
- Ability to balance and prioritise workload, remain composed and level-headed during periods of particularly busy activity, and being proactive in helping other members of the team. Ability to manage an attorney's emails, judge urgency, and action as required.

Die Rolle

- Vorbereitung und Einreichung neuer Marken-/Designanmeldungen
- Vorbereitung und Einreichung relevanter Schriftsätze bei den zuständigen Ämtern
- Verwaltung großer Schutzrechtsportfolios
- Fristen- und Terminüberwachung
- Rechnungsstellung
- Korrespondenz mit Ämtern, internationalen Mandanten und Auslandskollegen
- Betreuung von Verfahren vor den ordentlichen Gerichten und dem Bundespatentgericht (BPatG), inkl. formaler Vorbereitung von Schriftsätzen, Kostenfestsetzungsanträgen, Korrespondenz mit den Gerichten über das besondere elektronische Anwaltspostfach (beA) und eBO.

Ihre Voraussetzungen

Um bei uns als Patentanwaltsfachangestellte(r) einzusteigen, benötigen Sie:

- Eine abgeschlossene Ausbildung zur/zum Patentanwaltsfachangestellte(n)
- Kommunikationssichere Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse
- Eine Leidenschaft für ausgezeichneten Mandantenservice, bei dem die Interessen des Mandanten immer im Vordergrund stehen
- Die Fähigkeit, anfallende Arbeit zu strukturieren und zu priorisieren, Multitasking-Aufgaben zu erledigen und vorauszuplanen
- Autonomie, die Ihnen ermöglicht in Stoßzeiten gelassen und besonnen zu bleiben und mit einem Minimum an Aufsicht zu handeln
- Außergewöhnliche Liebe zum Detail und Stolz auf Genauigkeit
- Ausgezeichnete kommunikative/zwischenmenschliche Fähigkeiten auf allen Ebenen interner und externer Kontakte
- Erfahrung im Umgang mit Workflows wäre vorteilhaft, ebenso wie das Interesse daran, Workflows bei Bedarf zu verbessern, um effizientere Prozesse zu ermöglichen
- Den Wunsch zu lernen und die Bereitschaft, sich in das Team einzubringen
